Assembly Offering Invitation

Assembly Offering Invitation

The thirtieth Sierra Pacific Synod Assembly is just six weeks away. Your planning team is busy with the final arrangements for a wonderful gathering which will focus on stories:  the story of Jesus, the story of faith in the lives of people and the stories of ministry across our synod.

This year, the planning team is hoping that during the assembly we can create a story of generosity for ministry and lives active in service.

In faith the planning team has set an Assembly offering goal of $25,000. This is triple the “usual amount” of our Assembly Offerings. As a planning team, we are inviting EACH CONGREGATION to find a way to bring an especially generous offering to the Assembly. Perhaps congregations will make a special appeal, or designate one of the offerings from the Lent/Easter season for the Assembly. Perhaps, there are individual who wish to make special offerings.

This “give now” link will take you to the Synod Pay-Pal site where individuals and others can make a gift to  “jump start” us toward our audacious goal.

The Assembly Offerings will equally benefit ELCA World Hunger, The Fresno Area Lutheran order topamax Hunger Network, and the Synod Candidacy Committee Scholarship Fund.

Please, take the time now as congregations and individuals to see what you can to do help us realize this goal.

The planning team has designated the Marjoree Mason Center of Fresno to receive our “in-kind” gifts. The Marjoree Mason Center is a shelter for women and children who are victims of domestic violence. We are requesting baby diapers and personal items for women. More information of the center can be found at their website:

We also invite you to look at the Assembly website for a variety service opportunities on the “Day Of Service” which will immediately precede our Assembly on May 3rd. There is more detailed information at:  Many hands involved in service will help tell a story of God’s presence in the Fresno community.

During these weeks leading up to and through the assembly, please keep the Assembly in prayer. We trust God’s enlivening spirit to work among us as we tell the “old, old story” and as we write new stories of God’s grace through our Synod and its ministries.

In God’s grace,
