We are Church Together: This is our Neighborhood
by Kathye Hamm
A month from now, we will be gathering for the 31st time in Assembly as our Sierra Pacific Synod. We will meet at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Sacramento June 1st – 3rd, gathering under the theme “We are Church Together: This is our Neighborhood.”Our hope is to spend time wondering how God is calling us to be the fulfillment of Jesus’ Call for us to “love the Lord your God with all your heart and all your soul and all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.” Please note that the deadline for registration is April 30th – after that, registration costs will increase.
Please check out the web page for our Assembly (http://spselca.org/index.php/assembly/) to learn more about the work and witness that will be a part of this very important time for us to be “church together.” If you live in the Sacramento area and are not serving as a voting member from your congregation or as a volunteer, I invite you to “drop by” to watch how we prayerfully consider how God is calling us to love and serve the neighbors who are around us every day. There are also volunteer opportunities – please see the Assembly web page to register to serve.
I also invite you to pray for our Assembly in these weeks before we gather. Calls to pray will be sent to members of all our synod’s ministries and congregations over the next few weeks. Thank you for responding to this request for prayer — I know the members of the planning committee and our synod staff count on your prayers as we prepare to gather and celebrate all that God is doing through our shared ministry.
I look forward to seeing those of you who will serve as voting members for our Assembly, and to knowing that many more of you will be able to connect on line to watch our gathering as it takes place. Thank you for your part in the ministry we share as our Sierra Pacific Synod.
Blessings and Peace,
