Recognizing 2020 Graduates
by Kathye Hamm
I hope this finds you well and settling into what the realities are for our new normal – at least what normal looks like for now. I continue to be impressed by the ways that congregations, ministries, work places and families are making changes to how you are engaging with each other and with the world. It is different and we are all making adjustments, and we are also realizing the cancelling of trips and celebrations and parties. One big cancellation this spring has been graduations.
My graduations have all been days of celebration and moments of marking a change in my life. I know that many people are missing out on those events and the gathering of family and friends that often occur. And yet, despite the disappointment and loss of ‘traditional’ ceremony I have seen many posts on social media about how graduates are being celebrated and feted in this very unique time.
The Office of the Bishop would like to offer another way to mark those graduations. Please use this form to give us information about your graduate(s) and the Office of the Bishop will get a letter in the mail to help commemorate this important life transition. We know it won’t replace the huge party or the walk across a stage, but we hope it will provide a way for graduates to know that they are important and celebrated by a variety of people – including their church.
Blessings to all as we continue to lean into these new ways of life and decisions that need to be made as we move forward. Prayers are with you – in the sorrow as well as in the joys of life.
