Chili with the Bishop

You Are Invited

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

Before I say anything else, I want to say, “Thank you.” I am so grateful for the calling we share to be the presence of Christ as congregations and ministries in northern Nevada and northern California. There are so many ways that the people of our communities are blessed by our creative and committed pastors, deacons and lay leaders whose work and witness is tangible evidence of God’s grace and love breaking into our world. Thank you!

In the next few months, there will be ten “Chili with the Bishop” gatherings in our conferences – the schedule for the gatherings is below! I look forward to visiting each of our conferences and to hearing from you what God is doing in and through your lives and ministries. There is no doubt in my mind that the most common place someone is likely to encounter the risen Christ is through you and the work you are doing each day — whether through your congregation or ministry or in your daily life. I’m looking forward to hearing how our synod can support those callings!

I am also looking forward to sharing with you some of what is happening through our synod’s ministry and through the churchwide expression of our E.L.C.A. There may even be some “conference business” your Dean will want to attend to, and of course, there will be chili – my world famous, award-winning Chili!! All you are asked to bring is your favorite chili topping (grated cheese, sour cream, chopped onions, cilantro, Sriracha Sauce, saltine crackers) and corn bread or other bread! That’s it!

How can you be a part of these gatherings? Simple! Register for your Conference Gathering on this page and submit any questions you might have for the Bishop when you register!

Blessings and peace as we journey forward in ministry together.

God’s Peace,
Bp. Mark
