Chrism Mass

What is a Chrism Mass?

Chrism Mass services, held traditionally in Holy Week, are times when the oils for use in pastoral care are presented and blessed – the oils of baptism, healing and the catechumenate. This is also a time for the Renewal of Vocation – a renewal of baptismal, ordination and consecration vows.

This year, at least one Chrism Mass is being held in each conference, followed by lunch. In the afternoon, Bp Mark will hold office hours and then an evening Chili with the Bishop, for conversation and fellowship with lay leaders (and pastors and deacons) in the synod. We hope that you will join in the events in your conference – or in another site that works for your schedule.
