The Confirmation Project: Meaningful Formation for the Christian Community

A Youth Ministry Symposium co-sponsored by which will examine confirmation and formation practices that support youth, intergenerational groups, and the mission and spiritual growth of congregations. The event is open to all and designed for youth ministers and volunteers, clergy, camp leaders, and directors of education and formation.

The Youth Ministry Symposium will be held (including lunch) at Church Divinity School of the Pacific and is co-sponsored by Church Divinity School of the Pacific, Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary, the Episcopal Dioceses of Northern California, California, El Camino Real, and San Joaquin, and Province VIII of the Episcopal Church.

Keynote speakers Dr. Lisa Kimball, an Episcopalian, and Dr. Jacob Sorenson, an ELCA Lutheran, serve on the leadership team of The Confirmation Project, a multi-denominational study of confirmation practices in congregations and camps funded by the Lilly Endowment. In their presentation, they will report on the findings of the study with a special focus on Lutheran and Episcopalian confirmation preparation and its potential for energizing congregational life.
