Making Mutual Ministry Work

September 30, 2017

The Mutual Ministry Workshop will be held on September 30, 2017 at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Vacaville, CA. Reserve your spot!  Registration is open now. The cost is $25 per person. For more information, contact Pastor Bob Willse at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church at 707.448.8599 ext 201 or by email. Although the ELCA Constitution mandates a Mutual Ministry Committee for congregations, it does not provide specifics on implementation, roles, responsi-bilities, or function. Lacking that guidance and common understanding, rostered and congregational leaders may flounder when establishing and maintaining healthy Mutual Ministry Committees. This workshop will explore the benefits and features of vari-ous models for mutual ministry and encourage dialogue about what churches are currently doing. Rostered Ministers, council presidents, council members, Personnel and Mutual Ministry Committee members are en-couraged to attend. The day will be facilitated by Carolyn Foster, an expert in clergy-congregational leadership. Carolyn will speak on how to overcome the challenges and maximize the opportunities of this unique ministry of shared support. Participants will come away with tools and techniques to establish, redirect, or reinvigorate their Mutual Ministry Committee in such a way that the lives of the rostered ministers and the church community will be enriched. Download the brochure for more information.
