A Message from PLTS

Dear Friends,

Happy Easter! Christ is risen. Alleluia.

Today (April 7, 2021) is Cal Lutheran Cares Day! PLTS is one of several programs of California Lutheran University participating. Thanks to the generosity of over twenty donors, your gift today to the Seminary Fund and Center for Climate Justice & Faith will be matched, up to $50,000.

Thank you for all the support you give to the seminary today and throughout the year – your faithful and generous prayers, encouragement, and financial offerings are sincerely appreciated. Your partnership in our mission to equip leaders for serving in our congregations as pastors and deacons and to offer theological education opportunities to an expanding group of lay, rostered, retired, and seeking people of faith is helping us grow in mission together. Thank you. I really mean it. With your support, leaders said “yes” to the call to come to seminary, even in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Many great things are happening.

We are completing the search process for a new faculty member to teach New Testament who will start this fall. A search has just begun for a new director of development who will focus on fundraising for the seminary. If you or someone you know might be a great candidate, you can read the job description here.

PLTS launched a new Center for Climate Justice & Faith which has received its approval to offer a new certificate program in the fall. We are also excited about offering a new Master of Arts in Spirituality & Social Change. The faculty are also working on another new certificate program and we will be able to share what that’s all about later this spring. Stay tuned and please keep up the prayers and encouragement.

Thank you for your partnership!

Ray Pickett, Rector
